Karin came to Boston in the fall of 1987 to work as an au-pair for the Schrage's. She came with her friend Bodil who worked for the De Schriver's. The father in the De Schriver family worked in the same office, but different company, as Marc.
He knew Marc spoke Swedish so he told him he should meet up with Bodil and Karin and some friends one night in Boston. Which we did, meeting outside the T stop at Government Center. It took a few months but on New Year's Eve 1987 Marc and Karin became a couple. And the adventures started.
A little small world extra. Liz Schrage was good friends with a Japanese woman Hiroko Sakan. Marc met Hiroko at work when Mr. Okada, his Japanese partner, came to the US and hired Hiroko, and old friend, as translator. Marc learned that Hiroko do to tragic circumstances needed someone to "own" her bakery business while she sorted out her working permit for the US. So for a while Marc was the "owner" of a Japanese Bakery. And Marc proclaimed his feelings for Karin after inviting her to his company's Christmas party. Since Mr. Okada was in town at the time he was also at the dinner which was at a Japanese restaurant. Like I said, it's a small world. But I wouldn't want to paint it.
