Italian efficiency

 


1993 Marc and Karin were travelling in Italy. They went to the train station to buy some tickets. When it was their turn the ended up at a window with an elderly man. Unlike the other workers, the elderly man had no computer. He had to use paper timetables to find the train and instead of printing out tickets with the printer he filled them out by hand.

But the best part came when Marc tried to pay with his MasterCard. There was a sign on the window indicating that they accepted MasterCard. But the elderly man refused. He kept saying no, no. 

When we asked why he pointed to the SAS logotype om Marc's MasterCard that gave bonus miles and said, "you can only use this card to buy plane tickets in Sweden."  We ended up paying cash.
